SizeUp allows you to quickly position a window to fill exactly half the
screen (splitscreen), a quarter of the screen (quadrant), full screen, or
centered via the menu bar or configurable system-wide shortcuts (hotkeys).
Similar to "tiled windows" functionality available on other operating systems.
Additional features include moving windows from one monitor to another,
from one Space to another, and restoring a window to its original size and
position (SnapBack).
If you prefer a mouse-centric approach to window management, you might also
take a look at Cinch. Use SizeUp together with Cinch to cover both your mouse
and keyboard workflow.
Using SizeUp
SizeUp consists of actions which can be performed on the frontmost application
window:
Split Screen Actions:
Left Move and resize a window to fill the left half of the screen
Right Move and resize a window to fill the right half of the screen
Up Move and resize a window to fill the top half of the screen
Down Move and resize a window to fill the bottom half of the screen
Quarter Screen (Quadrant) Actions:
Upper Left Move and resize a window to fill the upper left quarter of the screen
Upper Right Move and resize a window to fill the upper right quarter of the screen
Lower Left Move and resize a window to fill the lower left quarter of the screen
Lower Right Move and resize a window to fill the lower right quarter of the screen
SnapBack Action:
SnapBack Move and resize a window to its previous position and size before SizeUp
actions were performed
Multiple Monitor Actions:
Prev Monitor Move a window to the previous monitor
Next Monitor Move a window to the next monitor
Spaces Actions:
Space Prev Move a window to the previous Space
Space Next Move a window to the next Space
Space Above Move a window to the Space above
Space Below Move a window to the Space below
Other Actions:
Full Screen Move and resize a window to fill the entire screen
Center Move a window to the center of the screen or optionally resize the window
before centering
These actions can be triggered via the SizeUp Menu in the Mac menu bar or via
system-wide shortcuts. For example, the default shortcuts for Left, Right, Up,
and Down can be triggered by holding the Control+Option+Command keys while pressing
an Arrow key to indicate the direction you wish the window to go. The shortcut keys
can be customized in the SizeUp Preferences.
